We had so many X2's on flight that we were all over the place, mostly working the auto morse isle, DF Consul, RT, etc. I worked with Loyal Dean Dodson in the Auto Isle. He was our QB. Unfortunately, I also remember an X1 by the name of SSGT Jackson. (Jackson was the one who brought a Greek prostitute to the flight Christmas party in 1965.) Sgt. Jackson came up to me once and was "adjusting" himself. I told him I would cut it off if he got any closer. We weren't on very good terms after that. A lot of you might recall that Sgt. Frankenstein was difficult to please. I remember once when I was out in the DF shack and the "shot" I gave him wasn't to his liking. If I remember correctly, it was a "Queen Able" which was a pin point. He wasn't happy. He came out to the shack, not bothering to declare himself. So, I greeted him with an M-1 cocked and loaded at his head. Needless to say, I was correct on the shot but he wouldn't let me work the shack anymore. (The only thing bad about that was all the X1's saying I should have pulled the trigger.) | ||||||||||||||
| There were a lot of "Jeep" jokes right after we got on the island. Sam was told to get a bucket of DF Bearings and he got right to it. After an hour or so, they came and asked me where my roomie was. I told them about the bucket of bearings and suggested if they checked our room he was probably in the sack looking for the bearings. (He was.) Sam had not had sex in his life until he met Crazy Mary and Rita. He quickly became good buddies with them. Used to float them loans when they needed. He wasn't a "Mad Dog" about it – just a friend | ||||||||||||||

Once when Sam Sanborn was pulling outside guard duty he saw a Greek going up the steps to the 'pound. He cocked and loaded on him. Needless to say – Sam didn't pull any more guard duty. I played baseball for Able. (Kind of hoping that Dennis Chick has forgotten by now that I missed the tag on a runner at home that cost us the championship.) I did play on all other flight teams. |
